Meet the Team
David Hinch – IFA and Managing Director
I’ve been involved in and around Financial Services for over 30 years, but I’ve been very fortunate to also have a second vocation in my life – aviation (a Sea Harrier pilot in the Fleet Air Arm and an Airbus Captain at Virgin Atlantic).
Gaining such a wide variety of experience, allows me to take a measured and holistic view when helping and advising the clients of David Burnell Financial Services.
Away from the office, I love life on two wheels (engine powered) and can often be found on the roads of the Peak District or the track at Donington.
Helen Burnell – Personal Assistant
I worked in General Insurance for 25 years, starting from administration to claims handling, then into special investigations. I moved into Financial Services at DBFS over 10 years ago as an administrator.
Out of the office I enjoy going on holiday, visiting various places, home or abroad, enjoying the fresh air, food, and drink.
Rebecca Coles – Administrative Assistant
I’m still new to working within Financial Services and whilst I’ve been able to transfer some of my skills, there’s a huge amount to learn, and every day brings something new; it’s a journey that I’m really enjoying. Prior to that, I worked in Marketing for 10 years within the Media and Promotional Merchandise industries.
Out of the office, I love listening to and watching live music, so much so, I help to run a Folk, Roots, and Acoustic Music Club, showcasing established artists to up and coming talent. I also love to bake!
Jon Gilbert – IFA and Director
I’ve worked in financial services all my working life since 1987, firstly with Norwich Union, latterly Aviva, and I’ve been an Independent Financial Adviser since 1996.
When I’m not giving advice to clients, I enjoy time with the family and I’ve recently set up my own taxi firm, exclusively for my teenage children!
Lucy Gilbert – Pension, Investment, Equity Release and Mortgage Adviser
I have over 7 years experience in the industry and spent 2 years advising for a high street building society.
Out of work I enjoy taking my lovely standard Dachshund Maisie on long country walks, taking in the scenery and fresh air. I also enjoy getting together with my family and friends.
Jane Hilton – Team DBFS Support
My main career is Catering, and I have worked in the industry for over 30 Years, but I also help out cleaning, and recently joined DBFS to help keep their lovely offices clean and tidy.
In my spare time I enjoy walking, listening to a variety of music and relaxing on trips away.
Jon Pashley – IFA and Director
I have been involved in the financial services industry for over 30 years now, both on the corporate and advisory side and built up a wide range of experience which has proven invaluable in helping all types of clients with their planning needs.
There is no doubt we live in an ever-changing world so its vitally important to give straightforward and sound long-term advice. These fundamentals are what our business is built on and have never been so important.
Away from the business I enjoy spending time watching different sports in different locations, exploring the countryside, and generally spending as much quality time with friends and family as possible. Life is for living so we need to make sure we do just that!
Chris Pratt – Friend of DBFS
I have been advising individuals and companies for over 30 years. Within that time, I have worked and built successful IFA practices, more recently focusing on guiding clients through all matters relating to pensions and simple investment products.
A good friend once told me that friends and family were ‘where it’s at’. He was right of course, and nowadays I feel good working in a great business that has a really strong family ethos.
As well as finance, sport is another one of my passions, and one day I hope to find inner peace and calm with the match officials’ decisions when watching England Rugby games!
Natalie Wilkes – Mortgage, Protection and Probate Adviser
I advise on mortgage, protection, and probate at David Burnell Financial Services.
I have worked at DBFS for over 33 years. I believe I am a good listener, and with my personal experiences in life, I feel I can bring this into my work life and help people in different circumstances. It’s not every day you hear anyone say “I love my job” but I actually do.
In my spare time I enjoy going on holiday in this country, or abroad. I love spending time with my family and friends be it a BBQ or just a cuppa and a chat.
Karen Williams – Administrative Assistant
I am fairly new to financial services and joined the team at David Burnell almost 3 years ago.
Prior to this I worked in the design industry. Initially as a Textile Designer producing woven fabrics for high street and designer fashion markets. Then later as a Graphic Artist In print-based media. So, Financial Services is quite a departure, but one which I thoroughly enjoy.
Out of the office I love spending my time with my family and friends. I also really enjoy holidays and travel whenever I can.
Charlotte Wong – Administrative Assistant
I joined David Burnell’s with a long-standing interest in financial services and look forward to providing administration support and working alongside the team. I have a strong work ethic which has enabled me to take on a wide variety of roles prior to this, including running my own cleaning business.
Out of the office I enjoy eating out, visiting family, and trying to keep my two children entertained.
